The Price of Milk Film Screening

Join Food & Water Watch, 350Eugene, Friends of Family Farmers, Beyond Toxics, and the Center for Food Safety for a FREE screening of “The Price of Milk,” the untold story behind the ’90s “Got Milk?” campaign. This documentary dives into the corporate consolidation of our food system, specifically within the Dairy industry and its impact on small-scale dairy farmers across the US.

This event will include a panel discussion from local groups focusing on Oregon’s local food system and how corporate consolidation impacts our small and medium-scale farming communities.

Free to Grow Film Screening

Join Beyond Toxics and North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection for a FREE screening of “Free to Grow,” an award-winning new half-hour film about aerial pesticide spraying in Oregon forests.

After the screening, we will give a demonstration and overview of our new FERNS Pesticide Notification Web Map so you can learn about planned pesticide applications near you and what you can do about them.

Birds, Trees, and Turtles, Oh My!

Join Beyond Toxics, Habitat Guardians of Golden Gardens, Active Bethel Community, City of Eugene, Willamette Resources & Educational Network (WREN), Friends of Trees, and Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance for a day of family fun exploring Golden Gardens Park in West Eugene!

We’ll learn all about the critters, crawlers, and everything in between that make Golden Gardens such a special place and community resource. There will be adult and youth ecology tours, family-friendly nature explorations, iNaturalist training, and of course refreshments to sustain you and your family.

Beat the Heat Workshop #2

Join Beyond Toxics, Fossil Free Eugene, and others for a FREE pair of workshops in preparation for a hot and likely smoky summer. We’ll be giving a presentation on risks from heat and smoke and how to find relief both inside and outside, build a DIY air purifier, and give out resources to take home with you.

There will also be a presentation by Springfield Eugene Tenant Assocation for renters and homeowners to help you get best prepared for this summer.

These workshops are organized by Beyond Toxics, UO Climate Justice League, Springfield Eugene Tenant Association, Homes for Good Housing Agency, City of Eugene, Cascadia Wildlands, 350Eugene, Toolbox Project, and Fossil Free Eugene.

 

When: Thursday, June 25 from 6-8 p.m.

Where: Downtown Eugene Public Library Bascom Tykeson Room, 100 W 10th Ave, Eugene, OR 97401

Who: Renters, BIPOC, low-income community members.

Air Conditioner & Air Purifier West Eugene Giveaway

Beyond Toxics is seeking eligible households to receive free portable air conditioners and air purifiers as part of our West Eugene Clean Energy Project (WECEP). WECEP is an expansion of the Bethel Clean Energy Project, which aims to bring clean, cost-effective home energy upgrades to those most at risk of the impacts of climate change and industrial pollution.

We are distributing air conditioners and air purifiers to 45 households in West Eugene. Click here to view the eligibility map to see if you qualify.

If you qualify, fill out the interest form and visit the pickup site on May 16!

May Day Garden Work Party

Calling volunteers! Beyond Toxics is hosting a May Day community work party at the Churchill Community Garden in Eugene. We’ll spend the morning tending this important shared food and pollinator space, planting pollinator-friendly foods, planting in the pollinator patch, removing invasive species, mulching, and preparing garden beds for the growing season.

This is an excellent opportunity to connect with folks in our local community, get your hands in the soil, and support local food and community resilience. All are welcome, rain or shine! Tools will be provided.

Power Up ECEF Kick Off Party

It’s time to celebrate the official launch of Eugene Clean Energy Fund! Join Beyond Toxics, Breach Collective, Oregon Just Transition Alliance, and Sierra Club Oregon Chapter to learn more about ECEF, sign the petition, meet the organizers, and learn hiw you can volunteer and support the initiative.

ECEF is a ballot initative to fund local climate justice projects by placing a fee on the profits of the largest corporations in Eugene.
